$TSM just dropped earnings and the most important part wasn't the numbers — it was what management said about AI demand during the panic.

Citi straight up challenged them on overbuilding risk, HBM capacity, CoWoS bottlenecks, and whether hyperscalers are overextending. $TSM's response? They literally send people to check datacenter construction progress on-site. After assessing customer capex, supply chain constraints, and financial health, their conclusion: demand still exceeds supply. AI accelerator revenue growth could beat their prior 50%+ CAGR forecast through 2029.

JPM asked if wafer supply gets tighter in 2027 vs 2026. CEO Wei said the gap between supply and demand remains substantial — and customers keep increasing orders. They can't even quantify how tight it could get.

On pricing power: Wei said there's "no ceiling on TSMC's profitability" but it won't spike overnight. Translation: they have room to raise prices as capacity stays constrained.

Earnings were monster:
• Q4 profit $23.6B (68% YoY)
• Revenue $46.72B, beat estimates
• Q1 guidance $52.3-54.3B revenue, 65-67% gross margin

Bottom line: $TSM is the canary in the AI semiconductor trade. If demand was cracking, they'd see it first. Instead, Wei called AI demand "very, extremely strong" with zero signs of slowing. The recent selloff looks disconnected from what's actually happening in the supply chain.

If you were worried about an AI capex collapse or overcapacity showing up in chip demand, $TSM just said the opposite.
