Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is seeking DAO approval to activate ENSv2 on the Ethereum mainnet. Founder Nick Johnson warned that new .eth registrations would be unavailable on either protocol version for several hours during the transition. Existing domain holders could continue renewing their names without migrating, and existing names would function normally, according to the proposal. The proposal remains in draft stage and must advance to an onchain DAO vote before implementation. A voting date has not yet been announced.
