According to CNBC, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he still expects to reach an agreement with EuroLeague to launch NBA Europe, a new European basketball league. He said the talks are ongoing and that the NBA is moving ahead with plans for the league after EuroLeague owners rejected a formal merger offer earlier this week.
Silver said the NBA has received bids worth many hundreds of millions of dollars from existing European basketball clubs, some major European soccer brands, and wealthy individuals interested in buying the 12 permanent NBA Europe teams. The planned teams would be based in markets including London, Paris, Rome, Munich, Barcelona, Athens and Madrid, and the NBA is still targeting an October 2027 launch.
Silver also confirmed the NBA is working on plans to send two WNBA teams to Macao as soon as next season for preseason games.
