A statement showed that through October, the average daily coal supply to thermal power plants rose 9% from the previous month, while the pace of inventory drawdown also slowed. According to Sina Finance, India's Coal Ministry said conditions are stabilizing, but stock replenishment has not yet begun. The ministry said power plant inventories fell by an average of 116,000 tons a day in October, compared with 243,000 tons in September. On October 7, among nearly 190 power plants monitored by the Power Ministry, half had coal inventories below one-quarter of demand, putting them at a critical stock level. The Coal Ministry said stable daily dispatches of 465 to 475 coal trains by rail would help further stabilize supply and allow inventories to be replenished before the festive season and winter. Peak electricity demand is expected to ease in mid-October.
