SoFi Tech Solutions, Mexican fintech Orbi and Mastercard have launched a crypto-linked card program. Orbi users can pay from crypto or fiat balances. Funds convert at checkout, so merchants get fiat, and cash works at ATMs through Mastercard's Mexico Domestic Switch.
Why it matters: stablecoins were 40% of crypto purchases in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil & Colombia in 2025, vs 18% for $BTC (Bitso data). Orbi's card handles $USDT, $USDC and USDG.
