Nvidia moved quickly to other targets after missing out on OpenRouter, and it has since pursued a series of AI investments and acquisitions. According to Sina Finance, the chipmaker has discussed adding $1 billion to humanoid robotics company Figure, invested in Anthropic, Elon Musk's xAI and open-source model company Reflection AI, and agreed to pay $6 billion for software licensing and team access from Poolside.

The report said Nvidia also considered investing about $2.5 billion in Thinking Machines Lab, the AI lab founded by former OpenAI Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati. It added that Nvidia has become a key funding source for large data center projects, including a $3 billion investment in SB Energy and a $105 billion guarantee for OpenAI's lease agreement.

According to Sina Finance, Nvidia is also weighing more deals in local computing, robotics, autonomous driving and AI models that can run directly on devices such as smartphones and home computers. The article said the company has nearly $99 billion in cash and marketable securities, plus steady cash flow, and that it held nearly $100 billion in equity investments and $25 billion in future investment commitments at the end of July.
