đš Binance just made something important possible: 24/7 leveraged trading on traditional stocks â without buying the stocks themselves.
Today Binance Futures launched four new USDT-settled perpetual contracts:
âą USDEXUSDT â StablecoinX
âą VKTXUSDT â Viking Therapeutics
âą MCDUSDT â McDonaldâs
âą AKAMUSDT â Akamai Technologies
All four can trade 24/7 with leverage up to 20Ă, while funding is settled every eight hours.
But Muslim investors should understand one crucial distinction:
â ïž Trading MCDUSDT is NOT the same transaction as buying McDonaldâs stock.
A perpetual contract gives price exposure to an underlying asset without ordinary ownership of that stock. It can also involve:
â leverage and margin
â liquidation risk
â periodic funding payments
â derivative exposure rather than ownership of the underlying shares
So even if someone has already researched whether a particular companyâs shares satisfy their chosen Shariah-screening methodology, that does not automatically answer whether a leveraged perpetual contract referencing those shares is permissible.
Iâm not issuing a halal/haram ruling on these contracts.
đ Research the financial instrument â not just the company behind the ticker.
Should I make a simple âStock vs Tokenized Stock vs Perpetual Contractâ guide for Muslim investors?
