According to RTHK, HKET and JPX, Asian index futures edged higher in the overnight session after a sharply weaker-than-expected US September payrolls report cooled expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike this month. US employers added just 29,000 jobs, well below forecasts near 90,000, and the prior two months were revised down, pushing CME FedWatch odds of an October hike to about 20% from more than 65% a week earlier; the Nasdaq closed at a record, up over 1%, while crude oil fell nearly 2%.

Nikkei 225 futures firmed in overnight trade on the Osaka Exchange. The December 2026 contract settled its night session at 70,180, up 90 points, or about 0.13%.

South Korea's markets were closed for a substitute holiday for National Foundation Day, so there was no KOSPI/KOSDAQ futures night session.

Hang Seng index futures advanced in the night session, closing up 233 points at 24,266. The NASDAQ Golden Dragon China Index rose 1.7% to 5,613. In US ADR trade, Alibaba's US shares climbed 3.11% to an equivalent HK$108.68, above their Hong Kong close, while Tencent's ADR rose 1.73%, Meituan's ADR added 1.18% and HSBC's ADR gained 1.22%.

Taiwan's TAIEX futures extended gains overnight. The near-month contract closed the night session at 50,118, up 174 points, or 0.35%, after reaching a high of 50,247, on volume of 18,979 lots.
