$XRP is not Ripple. XRP Ledger is not XRP either.

If you don't understand this, don't worry, almost everyone in the world doesn't understand it either. I'll explain it to you like I would explain a highway.

XRP Ledger is the highway.

It's a network where everything flows. It is open and has no owner.

XRP is the currency of the highway.

It's used to pay tolls (very small and destroyed when paid) and as a bridge, exchanging one currency for another in seconds without going through a bank.

Ripple is a company that uses the highway.

It builds its business on the highway, primarily facilitating payments between businesses and banks in different countries. It uses this road, but this road doesn't belong to it. This is the part that is most easily confused.

Validators are the guardians.

They check every action to ensure it's correct and vote on improvements to the highway. Improvements aren't implemented if there aren't enough votes.

RLUSD is a digital dollar.

Ripple issues it. 1 RLUSD is worth 1 US dollar. It circulates on the highway, but it's not XRP.

Escrow is Ripple's safe deposit box.

Ripple locks up a large amount of XRP. A portion is unlocked each month, and the unused portion is locked again. So don't panic when you read "Ripple unlocks 1 billion XRP": that's it.

ETFs and Evernorth are the gateways from the stock market.

ETFs are funds you buy from your preferred brokerage. Evernorth is a publicly traded company whose business is holding XRP. In both cases, there's XRP behind the scenes, but no wallet or key is needed.

In summary: The highway is XRPL. XRP circulates and pays the tolls. The rest uses it, monitors it, or links it to traditional currencies. If you remember these, you know more than half the people who comment on XRP.

Which part do you find hardest to understand?
