The Ethereum Foundation said on Oct. 1 that zkAPI, a private AI-payment system coauthored by Davide Crapis and Vitalik Buterin, is now running on mainnet. According to NS3.AI, the system allows users to initiate escape withdrawals without server clearance, provided they have a usable spending state and wait through a 24-hour challenge period.

The mainnet configuration sets a 30-day note lifetime, with expiry rounded up to a one-day boundary. The vault owner can pause new withdrawals, although pending escape finalization is not subject to that pause restriction.

The announcement refers to USDC credits, but the current mainnet manifest identifies the linked vault as holding native ETH. It also describes the integration as experimental and not production-audited.

zkAPI permits expiry claims that send an expired active note's full recorded deposit to the treasury rather than refunding the user.
