Wall Street reverses higher as Treasury yields retreat from a 24-year peak

📈 Wall Street closed slightly higher after spending much of the session under pressure. The S&P 500 gained 0.20% to 7,666.48, while the Dow Jones and Nasdaq both edged up around 0.04%.

📉 The 10-year Treasury yield briefly reached around 5.34%, its highest level since 2002, before easing back toward 5.24% as buyers returned to bonds. The 2-year yield also fell sharply, signaling softer near-term policy expectations.

🏩 Cautious comments from Fed officials helped push the probability of an October rate hike down to around 28%, well below nearly 70% a week earlier.

⚡ Energy led the market, while technology also recovered. However, long-term yields remain above 5.2%, suggesting valuation pressure has not disappeared and the rebound mainly reflects easing yield pressure.

📊 The September jobs report will be the next key test for Fed expectations and the direction of Treasury yields.
