Bob Chapek said he never had a chance at Disney and described his 33-month tenure as CEO as turbulent. According to Sina Finance, this was his first formal interview since he was removed as Disney CEO in late 2022.

Chapek said former CEO Bob Iger had been building momentum against him and undermining his work. He also said Iger’s return during the pandemic, Disney’s response to the Black Widow lawsuit, and the company’s Florida political dispute all affected his role, before Disney’s board voted unanimously in June 2022 to extend his contract for three years and then removed him two weeks after a November earnings report showed streaming losses peaked at $1.5 billion.
