According to CNBC, Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora said it is unrealistic to slow AI development because different companies will move at different speeds, and he said some firms will likely push ahead at the frontier. Arora told CNBC's "The Tech Download" podcast that his earlier post on X calling for a slowdown a "NINJA MOVE" was meant to suggest some AI companies were seeking sympathy from regulators and lawmakers and a "free pass" on liability. He also said it is highly unlikely that AI has a 10% probability of wiping out humanity, and argued developers should build guardrails and test products before release. Arora added that coordination with China on AI safety could be difficult because U.S. politicians and executives do not share the same views.
