The Bank of Korea said Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix accounted for 99% of the KOSPI's gains during its rise from 8,000 to 9,000 points in June this year. According to ChainCatcher, the central bank made the assessment in its Monetary and Credit Policy Report for September 2026, which reviewed the factors behind the index's volatility this year. The report said the two stocks' contribution to the index's advance increased rapidly as the KOSPI kept climbing.
