Zcash developer Zakura has released an open-source cryptography toolkit that can cut private transaction creation from more than three seconds to under 200 milliseconds.  That is a major improvement for the user experience of shielded ZEC transactions, especially on mobile devices where generating the cryptographic proof has been one of the biggest delays. Zakura says mobile proof generation is now more than 14× faster, while desktop performance improves by more than 5×.
