On August 17, 2026, China's National Financial Regulatory Administration Shanghai bureau approved Yan Dawei's appointment as a director of BOC Consumer Finance, according to Jiemian News. Yan comes from the head office of Bank of China and has long worked on digital personal finance.

The appointment came as BOC Consumer Finance reported first-half revenue of 3.405 billion yuan, down 7.5% year on year, while net profit jumped 99.33% to 299 million yuan. As of June 30, total assets stood at 76.891 billion yuan, down 0.49% from the start of the year. Jiemian News said the profit surge was mainly driven by lower credit impairment losses and the disposal of legacy non-performing loans, rather than business expansion. The company said its net profit for the first half of 2026 already exceeded full-year 2025 profit of 215 million yuan. It also noted that in 2025 it transferred about 13.837 billion yuan of personal bad loans, and that from the start of 2026 through the reporting date it had listed more than 40 batches of non-performing assets totaling over 12 billion yuan. The article also said Bank of China raised its direct and indirect stake to 61.21% after two outside investors exited in December 2025.
