TRUMP: THE U.S. HAS DISCUSSED ACCUMULATING A LARGE BITCOIN POSITION đŸ‡ș🇾₿
Asked whether the U.S. government has plans to accumulate a large amount of Bitcoin, President Donald Trump said the issue “has been discussed.” He also described Bitcoin as very beneficial for the U.S. dollar and said he would listen to specific proposals.
However, there has been no announcement regarding a specific purchase size or timeline. For now, the remarks should therefore be viewed as a policy signal rather than a commitment that the U.S. government will immediately purchase Bitcoin.
The practical focus of the White House crypto conference was instead the CLARITY Act. Trump urged Congress to pass the bill in order to establish a clearer and more durable regulatory framework for the digital asset industry.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said the expected September 15 vote is the next major milestone. The CLARITY Act aims to clarify which crypto assets fall under SEC jurisdiction, which belong under the CFTC, and which rules exchanges and crypto companies must follow.
If passed, Armstrong believes the current positive changes could become a policy foundation lasting for decades rather than depending on the direction of each administration.
Trump also described the bill as strong and well structured, arguing that it could help the U.S. maintain an advantage over China and other countries.
The notable point is that Bitcoin and the CLARITY Act are now being discussed within the same policy narrative: one concerns potential asset accumulation, while the other provides the legal foundation for the industry to develop.
If the U.S. actually adds Bitcoin to its national asset strategy, which would have the greater impact: BTC demand or the changing legal status of crypto?
