⚡ 1. Parallel Execution — EIP-7928

Ethereum has traditionally faced sequential execution bottlenecks because validators need to determine which parts of the network’s state each transaction will access.

Block-Level Access Lists (BALs) provide this information in advance, allowing clients to identify transactions that don’t conflict and process parts of execution and validation in parallel.

This could significantly improve Ethereum’s Layer 1 efficiency and help the network support higher capacity over time. ⚡

📈 2. A 200 Million Gas Limit Target

One of the major goals surrounding Glamsterdam is a 200 million gas limit target.

That would represent a substantial increase from Ethereum’s current gas limit of around 60 million, potentially allowing significantly more computation to fit into each block.

However, the 200M figure should be viewed as a target, not a guaranteed limit immediately activated by the upgrade.

Glamsterdam also includes Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation (ePBS).

EIP-7732 moves the proposer-builder handoff into Ethereum’s protocol, reducing reliance on external middleware such as MEV-Boost.

It also aims to reduce trust dependencies and improve block propagation efficiency, potentially helping Ethereum handle greater amounts of data while maintaining network security and decentralization.

⚠ What About $ETH Holders?

For ordinary ETH holders, the upgrade itself does not mean that you need to move or convert your ETH.

Node operators and stakers will need to update their clients when Glamsterdam activation approaches, following official Ethereum announcements.
