Overtrading is one of the biggest account killers. Most people don’t overtrade because they have a bad strategy. They overtrade because of the way they think. Most people do it for just 3 reasons: 1- You believe you always need to be doing something to make money. You see price moving and feel like you’re missing out. So you keep opening new positions, thinking one more trade will make you more money. In reality, the more you trade, the more mistakes you usually make. 2- You don’t have a clear trading strategy. If you don’t know exactly what your setup looks like, every chart starts to look tradable. A breakout, a random candle, or even a post on social media suddenly feels like a reason to enter. 3- You’re trading without any accountability. You’re sitting alone in front of the charts for hours. No one is reviewing your trades. No one is questioning your decisions. Boredom, emotions, and the urge to make something happen slowly turn into unnecessary trades. Overtrading doesn’t usually blow up an account in one day. It’s a habit that slowly drains your capital until you finally realize what has been happening.
