Most traders watched the Binance hack headline. The smart ones watched their liquidation price.

Within an hour of the news, BTC slid from about $80.3K to $78.8K and roughly $628M in leveraged positions got force-closed. Over 24h, around 84% of liquidations were longs. Not hackers. Traders.

Here’s what’s confirmed so far. Binance says about $6.3B in assets was hit, about $3B is frozen, and SAFU plus company funds will cover losses. Withdrawals were paused and should resume in phases. That’s their statement, so wait for the full post-mortem before drawing conclusions.

Market check: BTC is sitting near $76.5K–77K, a five-week low. ETH hovers around $2.2K. Spot BTC ETFs still pulled in $17.2M on Oct 29. It’s small, but it’s green.

My plan, not advice:

  • If BTC closes below $76.6K, expect more forced selling.

  • If it reclaims $79K–80K, the zone where the drop started, the bounce gets real.

Trader rule: when the headline is scary, cut your leverage before the market cuts it for you.
