🎃 The Pumpkin That Glowed Gold — A Halloween Tale from the Shan Hills
Every Halloween in my hometown in the Shan hills, the whole street glows orange. Families carve pumpkins, children run around in ghost costumes, and the night smells of roasted corn and candle smoke. This year, I decided to carve something different. Instead of the usual scary face, I carved a diamond pattern — the same diamond I stare at every day on my trading app. My friends laughed. "A crypto pumpkin?" they said. "What will it scare away — a bear market?"
I placed it on the porch and went back inside to watch the charts, the way I always do. At midnight, the wind stopped. The dogs stopped barking. And my pumpkin began to glow — not orange, but gold, so bright that it lit up the whole porch like a small sun. Mist rolled in from the hills, and out of the mist came three visitors.
The first was a ghost in a green candle costume, jumping up and down, shouting, "Buy! Buy! Everything is going up!" He told me he had spent his whole life chasing every green candle he saw, buying at the very top, and then wondering why his portfolio only ever went down. "I never asked why something was rising," he wailed. "I only asked how fast I could buy it."
The second ghost wore a red candle costume and trembled at every sound. "Sell! Sell!" he whispered. "It is going to zero!" He had sold every dip he ever held, locking in every loss, and then watched from the sidelines as the market recovered without him. "Fear made all my decisions," he said, "so fear kept all my money."
Then the pumpkin itself spoke, in a warm, golden voice. "I am not magic," it said. "I am a reminder. A market, like a field, has seasons. You plant in fear, you wait through winter, and you harvest in patience. The diamond you carved into me is not a promise of profit. It is a promise you make to yourself: do your own research, never invest what you cannot afford to lose, and never let a candle — green or red — make your decisions for you."
The ghosts faded with the mist. The gold dimmed back to orange. By morning, my pumpkin looked perfectly ordinary again, sitting on the porch with a diamond smile. But something had changed. When I opened my trading app that morning, I did not chase the first green candle, and I did not panic at the first red one. I read, I waited, and I thought about seasons.
I told my friends the story the next evening, expecting them to laugh again. Instead, they went quiet, and one of them said, "That ghost in green is me." Another one nodded and said, "And the red one is me." We carved three more pumpkins that night — one green, one red, and one gold — and placed them side by side on the porch, so that every trick-or-treater who passed would see the whole story in three glowing faces.
That is the real Halloween lesson the golden pumpkin taught me: ghosts are not the scary part of the market. Our own emotions are. And the bravest thing a trader can do is not buy the top or sell the bottom — it is to stay calm, stay curious, and let the season do its work.
Happy Halloween to everyone in the Binance family. May your pumpkins glow gold, your candles stay calm, and your decisions stay your own.
