Genius Yield winds down: new browser app supports direct contract access

October 22 reports say Cardano DeFi protocol Genius Yield is gradually ceasing operations. Lars Brünjes has released Genius Zero, an open-source browser application under the MIT license, allowing users to interact directly with smart contracts to unstake, cancel DEX orders and claim rewards without relying on Genius Yield's backend. The app uses Blockfrost to query on-chain data.

The distinction between principal and rewards matters: unstaking principal does not depend on the co-signing service, but reward claims still require a service personally operated by Brünjes. Existing DEX order-book fees continue to flow to an address controlled by Genius Yield. Changing those fees requires signatures from three of the four original founders, and the necessary authorization has reportedly not been obtained. The browser app's availability therefore does not mean every operational dependency or fee arrangement has been removed.
