Pirate Chain ( $ARRR ) confirmed that a transaction-validation exploit discovered on October 14 allowed approximately 39.8 million unauthorized coins to be created, increasing supply by roughly 20%. The coins were moved into its Sapling shielded pool, limiting visibility into subsequent transfers. The project identified two validation failures, not a demonstrated compromise of shielded cryptography or notary keys.

The team initially announced a chain rollback but withdrew that plan on October 15, saying developers cannot unilaterally rewrite a decentralized blockchain. Notarization operators voluntarily paused their work, and exchanges and mining pools were asked to suspend activity while recovery options are assessed.

NonKYC restricted an account associated with suspicious deposits. No verified dollar loss to existing holders or completed recovery has been disclosed. Users were asked to avoid moving funds pending official instructions.
