BNY Mellon and Citadel Securities just closed the first tokenized U.S. Treasury repo transaction. This isn't a pilot or a test anymore — it's a live trade.

Treasuries are now moving onchain. The infrastructure is being built in real time, not in whitepapers. When the largest custodian bank and one of the biggest market makers in traditional finance start settling repos with tokenized collateral, it signals that the rails are ready.

This matters because repos are the plumbing of the financial system — trillions in daily volume, deeply embedded in funding markets. Tokenizing them means faster settlement, better capital efficiency, and composability with other onchain instruments.

The shift isn't theoretical anymore. It's happening.
