The Treasury Department is scrapping two long-stalled crypto surveillance proposals. The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network filed withdrawal notices Monday for its 2020 unhosted wallet rule and its 2023 international crypto mixing proposal. Coin Center called the withdrawals a significant victory for financial privacy. FinCEN said it will continue monitoring money laundering and terrorist financing and may act in the future.
