The #Bitget hack has put #ThorChain in the spotlight. More people are talking about the network because some of the stolen funds were swapped through it. After looking at the situation from several angles, I bought a small amount of $RUNE . My view is that the breach is primarily Bitget’s security failure. THORChain did not cause that failure, and I don’t think an independent network should be expected to take responsibility for securing a centralized exchange. What interests me is how THORChain is responding. A permissionless network that processes transactions even under pressure is behaving consistently with its claim to be decentralized. That principle has difficult consequences when stolen funds are involved, and I understand why people disagree with it. For $RUNE , the attention alone is not an investment thesis. I’ll be watching whether it leads to lasting network use, stronger fee revenue and deeper liquidity after the Bitget story fades. My position is small because those questions are still open.
