If you're still treating $ETH like just another chain competing on speed, stop now.

That mindset is why so many traders rotated into every ETH killer over the last cycle and watched those bags go to zero. They sold the one asset with a ten-year roadmap because gas felt expensive for a few months.

Vitalik just laid out Ethereum's 2030 master plan, and it is not trying to be the fastest blockchain. It is trying to be the base layer everything else settles on. The target is 100,000 TPS through rollups, full zk verification, and nodes light enough to run on a phone. L2 fees already fell more than 90 percent after Dencun. The Merge cut energy consumption by 99.95 percent. This is infrastructure, not a speed race against $SOL .

The other side of this debate is fair because Ethereum is still clunky today. Users bounce between L2s, bridging is a mess, and a simple swap can still feel like a chore. Faster chains win on that experience right now, but I still think they are wrong about the destination. $BTC is digital gold. $ETH is betting that when real-world usage hits, the chain that stayed decentralized and verifiable is the one institutions actually trust.

Where do you think this goes from here?
