The Revolut Breach Has Turned Into a $3M Monero Extortion Case $XMR is now part of the escalation around Revolut’s customer-data breach. A group calling itself iamnotavillain is demanding 6,000 XMR, worth about $3M, after claiming access to records tied to at least 680 customer accounts. TARGETING → ACCESS → EXTORTION The attackers reportedly used blockchain analysis to identify Revolut customers with significant crypto holdings, then compromised an Italian government email system and posed as law enforcement to request account information. The exposed material is said to include passports, driver’s licenses, KYC photos and transaction histories. The crypto angle therefore appears twice in the same incident. On-chain activity allegedly helped attackers select high-value targets, while Monero is now being requested as the ransom asset. Revolut says it is supporting affected customers and working with authorities.
