Everyone knows BNB burns tokens. Almost nobody can explain how the burn number gets decided.

Here's the mechanism, in plain terms.

1. Supply moves in one direction only.
$BNB launched with 200 million tokens and is being systematically reduced toward 100 million. On 15 July 2026, the 36th quarterly burn removed 1,615,827 BNB — roughly $932 million — leaving 133,166,127 in supply.

The size isn't a marketing decision. The Auto-Burn formula derives it from BNB's market price and the number of blocks the chain produced that quarter, and every burn lands in a public blackhole address anyone can verify on-chain.

2. There's a second burn you never see.

BEP-95 destroys a share of gas fees in real time, block by block. More than 281,000 BNB has been removed this way. No announcement, no quarter-end — it just runs.

3. The chain got fast enough for that to matter.

After four hardforks in 2025 — Pascal, Lorentz, Maxwell, Fermi — BNB Chain now produces 0.45-second blocks with 1.1-second finality, and median fees sit well under $0.01.

That's the part most people miss: cheaper, faster blocks pull in more transactions, more transactions burn more gas, and the real-time burn compounds quietly underneath the quarterly headline.
Supply contracts. Throughput expands. Whether that's already reflected in the price is a separate question — and one worth answering yourself.

What's your read: is the burn priced in?
