My mom walked past my room today and asked, “Are you still reading that?” I looked up and realized I’d been staring at the same page for almost twenty minutes. I laughed and told her, “I’m trying to understand it, not just finish it.” She smiled and said,

That honestly made me think.

So I went back to reading about @BabylonLabs_io especially Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV). At first, I thought it was just another way to bring Bitcoin into DeFi. But after spending some time with the documentation, I realized the idea is actually much simpler than I expected. TBV is built so native Bitcoin can be used as collateral without wrapping it, bridging it, or handing it over to intermediaries. The more I read, the more that approach made sense to me because it keeps Bitcoin closer to what many people value about it in the first place.

The first TBV use case is already live on the public testnet with Aave v4, where users can try native Bitcoin-backed borrowing by using BTC as collateral to borrow supported assets like USDC and USDT on Ethereum. Babylon is also inviting the community to test the experience and share feedback while it’s still evolving.
