**News Flash: Maelstrom Awards Bitcoin Core Developer Grant**

Investment fund Maelstrom has awarded a $100,000 grant to Jon Atack, a senior Bitcoin Core developer, to maintain the Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIP) repository. Atack, who began contributing in 2019, will use the funds to focus on decentralization, bug-fixing, and overall network robustness.

Maelstrom's chief investment officer, Arthur Hayes, emphasized the importance of supporting seasoned developers like Atack to ensure Bitcoin's continued evolution. The grant program, launched on July 17, offers funding between $50,000 and $150,000 annually, potentially reaching $250,000 per developer.

Atack highlighted the need for ongoing vigilance and updates to maintain Bitcoin's integrity and user experience. He pledged to continue his efforts in enhancing the network's decentralization and performance.

In addition to Maelstrom's support, Atack is also receiving a grant from the Bitcoin initiative Open Sats. Hayes aims to identify more candidates to educate the next generation of Bitcoin developers.
