The Good News
$SOL just crossed a major milestone: MoneyGram, one of the world's biggest remittance companies, is integrating its cash network directly with $SOL . This means users in over 170 countries could soon deposit and withdraw cash through Solana-powered infrastructure — a huge real-world adoption signal.
On the technical side, the network activated a 66% throughput boost in late July, and a bigger upgrade called Agave 4.2 is scheduled for release around August 17. This upgrade will cut data storage costs and increase transaction size limits, making Solana cheaper and more capable for developers building on it.
There's also a proposal in motion (SIMD-0550 and SIMD-0553) that would sharply increase how much SOL gets burned daily, from around 650 coins to potentially 9,000. Less new supply plus more burning is generally a positive setup for long-term price pressure.
The Concerning Part
Despite the good news, Solana has faced network stress. Within the past week, over a quarter of staked SOL briefly went delinquent due to a routing fault, and separately, an infrastructure outage hit over 100 validators. The network kept processing transactions both times, but repeated stability issues are something to watch closely, especially as more real-world money (like MoneyGram's) starts flowing through the network.
Bottom Line
Solana is pushing hard on adoption and upgrades, which is genuinely bullish long-term. But recent network instability is a real risk factor that shouldn't be ignored. Worth keeping SOL on your watchlist heading into the Agave 4.2 upgrade next week.
