El mercado laboral de EE. UU. no se está rompiendo — y eso podría ser un problema mayor para las expectativas de recortes de tasas de lo que sugieren los titulares.
Las solicitudes iniciales semanales de empleo cayeron a 206.000 para la semana que terminó el 5 de septiembre, mientras que las solicitudes continuas bajaron a 1,774 millones para la semana que terminó el 29 de agosto. Los datos aún apuntan a despidos relativamente bajos, más que a un deterioro brusco del empleo.
Pero hay otra pieza del rompecabezas.
El PPI de agosto subió 0,4% mes con mes y 5,4% año con año, con la lectura anual por encima de la expectativa del 5,3%.
Mi opinión: esto crea un escenario incómodo para la Fed.
El mercado laboral no está lo suficientemente débil como para forzar una respuesta de flexibilización agresiva, mientras que la inflación al productor muestra que las presiones de precios no han desaparecido. Y con el petróleo por encima de $100 y los rendimientos de los Treasuries elevados, el componente inflacionario de la ecuación merece más atención.
La prueba real viene después: el IPC de agosto el 11 de septiembre.
Si la inflación se mantiene firme mientras el empleo sigue mostrando cierta resiliencia, la narrativa de que «la Fed debe recortar» se vuelve mucho más difícil de defender.
Para las criptomonedas, estoy observando el mismo canal de transmisión: IPC → expectativas de la Fed → rendimientos de los Treasuries → liquidez → activos de riesgo.
Los datos laborales por sí solos no cuentan la historia. La tensión entre la estabilidad del empleo y la inflación persistente es.
