Looking at the employment figures for September, we can see a couple of notable shifts.

Prior to the release of the jobs report this morning, the ISM manufacturing employment metric climbed to 52.7 during September. This steady increase stretches the ongoing expansion streak of the index to a total of three consecutive months.
During the month of September, the overall count of manufacturing sectors experiencing expansion declined from 15 down to 12, based on the recent @ISM update. This positive momentum was primarily driven by primary metals, nonmetallic mineral products, and electrical equipment. On the other end of the spectrum, exactly two areas encountered a downturn, with printing and textile mills both registering a contraction.

According to @ChallengerGray, this means the tech field accounts for 29% of all layoff declarations this year, giving it the highest proportion of job cuts compared to any other sector.
