Sei Unveils Giga Upgrade Roadmap for Enhanced Transaction Performance
Sei has announced the Giga upgrade roadmap, marking a significant step in enhancing its protocol's transaction performance. According to Foresight News, Giga represents Sei's next-generation protocol upgrade, focusing on restructuring the execution client, state management, and consensus mechanism.
The roadmap outlines several key upgrades, including the Ares execution client upgrade, which aims to significantly boost performance through pipeline execution and asynchronous processing. The Eidos state management upgrade will replace Merkle trees with flat key-value storage and separate hot state from cold archives.
Additionally, the Autobahn consensus aims to achieve 200,000 transactions per second (TPS) and 400ms finality, with internal distributed testnets already demonstrating a processing capacity of 5 Gigagas. The Sedna private memory pool will introduce an encrypted transaction propagation mechanism.
Sei also plans a gradual shift to an EVM-only architecture, deprecating the Cosmos SDK and CosmWasm through SIP-3.
