New York resident Idin Dalpour has been indicted by a local court and the FBI for allegedly orchestrating a $43 million Ponzi scheme. Dalpour reportedly ran the scheme from 2020 to 2024 through an entity he controlled, named "Entity-1", which had interests in a cryptocurrency trading operation and a Las Vegas hospitality business. Dalpour is accused of falsely claiming to purchase cryptocurrency at wholesale prices and sell it at a profit to retail investors. He allegedly lured investors with promises of substantial returns, providing them with fabricated contracts and bank statements to support his false claims about the profitability and legitimacy of the ventures. However, the indictment alleges that Dalpour did not use investors’ funds as promised, but instead used the money contributed by later investors to pay earlier participants their returns. He also reportedly used investor funds for personal expenses. When investors sought to recover their investments, Dalpour reportedly provided false explanations. If convicted, Dalpour faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for wire fraud. The case is a significant step in the ongoing investigation of crypto-related frauds, underscoring the importance of vigilance and due diligence in the rapidly evolving DeFi and BRC 20 sectors.

Coinbase, the leading U.S. crypto exchange, reported a Q1 2024 revenue of $1.6 billion, marking a 72% quarter-on-quarter increase.
