Ethereum’s staking queue has grown to around 43 days, leading many people to ask the same question: Is demand for staking really that strong?
The short answer is yes, but there is more to the story.
Ethereum doesn’t allow unlimited validators to join the network at once. It has a built-in limit that controls how quickly new validators can become active. This rule helps keep the network stable and secure.
When more ETH is deposited for staking than the network can process each day, a waiting line forms.
That is exactly what’s happening now.
As of late July 2026, about 2.5 million ETH is waiting in the activation queue. At the same time, the exit queue is almost empty. This means far more people are entering staking than leaving it.
That’s an important signal.
A long entry queue and a near-zero exit queue suggest that many holders are willing to lock up their ETH instead of keeping it liquid. It also shows confidence in Ethereum’s proof-of-stake network.
However, the queue should not be confused with a price signal.
A longer wait doesn’t guarantee ETH will rise in value. Ethereum’s price is still influenced by many factors, including ETF flows, market liquidity, macroeconomic conditions, and investor sentiment.
The staking queue simply reflects demand for securing the network.
Institutional investors, staking providers, ETFs, and long-term holders are all adding to that demand. Since Ethereum only allows a limited amount of new stake to become active each day, the queue continues to grow whenever deposits arrive faster than the protocol can process them.
Another effect is reduced liquid supply.
ETH waiting to become active, and later becoming staked, is temporarily removed from the circulating supply. While this doesn’t determine price on its own, it does reduce the amount of ETH immediately available to trade.
