😲 Minus $285+ million: what was taken from the #DRIFT project
Another heavy blow to the market. The #DRIFT project has already incurred damage exceeding $285 million, and the list of stolen assets looks like a complete portfolio of a DeFi trader.
The hacker didn't complicate things — took everything that was liquid and could be quickly moved on. In such attacks, stablecoins like USD Coin and Tether typically go missing, along with liquid assets like Ethereum, as well as various LP tokens and derivatives, which are then dismantled and sold off in parts.
The standard route follows: quick swap → splitting amounts → cross-chain bridges → mixers.
And while the community is just starting to figure things out, the money has already left through several networks and lost direct contact with the source.
The most unpleasant aspect of such cases is the scale. This is not “one contract broke,” it’s a systemic hole through which everything that is poorly secured is being taken out.
💬 The conclusion is simple: there is no concept of “too big to fail” in DeFi. There’s only the question — has a vulnerability been found yet or not.
