SpaceX is preparing to enter the Nasdaq 100, and this is an important event for the market.
The reason is simple: funds and ETFs that track the index will be forced to
buy more shares of the company. This could create additional passive demand
worth billions of dollars.
But there’s a catch: history shows that new Nasdaq 100 constituents don’t always rise
immediately after being added. According to Barron’s, in the first week after
inclusion, many stocks even showed a drop. Often, the market prices in a positive
headline in advance, and after the actual inclusion
profit-taking begins.
So I wouldn’t treat this event as a “buy right now” signal.
It’s more logical to wait for the market’s reaction: whether key levels are held, whether
volume shows up, or whether a “sell the news” scenario starts.
In the short term $SPCX can be highly volatile. But over a 1–3
month horizon, the inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 may remain a positive factor,
if the broader tech market doesn’t fall into a correction.
My takeaway: the idea is strong, but the entry should not be based on emotions—only after
confirmation.
