My short-selling journey is over. First, some advice: there may still be a little profit to make from shorting right now, but I don’t recommend going in heavily. Don’t let a small gain lead to a big loss. You can build small long positions gradually, in batches.
I’d like to share a few lessons from my recent trades. I started building long positions in April, and my account kept growing. One day, after reading the news, I thought ZEC looked promising, so I entered with a small position and set a stop-loss. But I kept thinking, “Maybe in the next second… just one more second…” In the end, I got stuck in ZEC for over half a month. I had to close all my long positions early, add funds, and then close my short positions—which meant missing the chance to multiply my capital several times over.
Honestly, it was really frustrating to miss that week’s rally. The three assets I liked and bought were all up around 50%, but I was stuck in ZEC and had to close early. At one point, I nearly got wiped out.
Looking back at the ETH short I closed at 6 p.m. last night: I didn’t hold on, and missed out on tens of thousands of USDT in profit. But I’m still very content. I entered too early and held the position for two days, on top of being heavily leveraged. Yesterday, I was just $8 away from liquidation. So when I got the chance to exit before the evening’s data release, I grabbed a small bite of profit and got out. That’s the cause-and-effect of it all. If I’d opened the trade last night, I’m sure I would’ve taken those tens of thousands of USDT in profit. But my entry timing and price weren’t great, and it wore down my mindset. My read on the market was off too, so earning less was the consequence I deserved. But not losing money is a blessing. I’m glad I kept a clear head and came to understand the cause and effect. So I’m not upset; I think the result was alright.
Looking back at my recent trades, I relied on data analysis and at one point correctly read the market as bearish and made a little money. But for some reason, my market instincts over the past few days made me close four large short positions early, leaving a lot of profit on the table. So three days ago, I got carried away and revenge-traded by taking a heavily leveraged short position on ETH. Of course, the result was that I missed out on tens of thousands more and only took a small bite. I’m grateful that I know the market never runs out of opportunities or reversals—something miraculous could happen at any second. Missing out on profit or a rally feels awful, but staying in the game matters most.
Lately, I’ve just been lucky. If things had gone against me, I could’ve been wiped out completely. Once I’ve cleared my head, I need to change my approach. Timing and knowing when to take profits really, really matter. Staying out of the market is a skill. If you really can’t stand having no position, just buy spot.
I love trading not just for the money, but also for the thrill. But the process means battling human nature, the data, and yourself. It’s good training, and it goes against our instincts—but that thrill is irreplaceable. I woke up and wrote all this not only to remind myself to stay clear-headed, but also in the hope that my reflections might give you some ideas for your own trades. I hope all my friends get what they wish for. (My wish right now: could I get a few more followers? 🥺 Thanks!) $ETH $AVAX $SUI #ETH #SeptemberCPIIsComingHowWillOilAndUSTreasuriesMove
Don’t open either long or short positions. I’ve been holding a position for two days, and something feels off, though I can’t quite say what. I’d rather make less than lose too much of my principal. No greed—take a small bite and get out right away 🏃🏻 I’ve entered a cooling-off period. I’ll wait until the 18th and see. ##ETH $ETH
#AVAX I closed my position just so I could sleep well. I take profits while I can—that doesn't mean I'm bullish. Don't try to catch a falling knife; it's going to drop further. $AVAX $NEAR $DOT
#Near I'm tired and want to get a good night's sleep. Although I know it will keep falling, it's best to quit while I'm ahead. I've closed all my positions.
May I ask everyone, is AVAX worth buying for spot if viewed long-term? Or which altcoins are you all bullish on? I don’t know what to buy... How are Rare and Alice? 😅 #RARE#AVAX#Alice
#eth It’s a shame I closed that trade last night and missed out on another 10k U, but at least I got a good night’s sleep without any stress. As long as you have capital, anything is possible. Luckily, I woke up early this morning and opened another position. I got in late, unfortunately, but it’s best to take profits while you can. I don’t recommend chasing shorts right now—timing is crucial, so don’t get greedy. I was worried I’d make an impulsive trade, so I set a one-day cooling-off period. Today I’ll just play some games and have dinner with my family. Don’t believe people who casually throw around targets like 1.8k or 1.5k. If talk alone could make it happen, the bull market would’ve taken off long ago. If you don’t have much capital, don’t go in heavy either. You can open a small hedge position—3x is enough.
#ETH🔥🔥🔥🔥#ETH走势分析 🔥🔥 I was so tired last night and wanted to get a good night's sleep, so I closed my position and went to bed. Too bad I didn't have the energy to watch the market… So it's important to stay energized 😀
$RARE I got into the crypto world because of you. The thrill of money moving fast has always been in my mind. Unfortunately, at the time I wasn’t very good at it. Even if I bought OM and it went up 9x, I still ended up losing everything due to greed in the contracts and my own impulsiveness. These past two years I’ve been losing money—my original principal is depleted and I even owe the bank 7w+. Looking back, over these two years I lost a total of 2.7w+U. I believe it’s fate. I’m sure you can lead me out of this situation!
