$BTC 🚀 Bitcoin breaks above $80K: sustainable rally or temporary mirage?
This week has been historic for BTC. For the first time since May, Bitcoin surpassed the $80,000 barrier, accumulating +25% in just 10 days. At the moment, it is trading around $78,750, consolidating after reaching three-month highs.
What is driving this rally?
1. Relief in the bond market The U.S. Treasury Department stepped in to ease pressure in the bond market, freeing up room for risk assets to regain ground. Bitcoin was one of the biggest beneficiaries.
2. Regulatory push — CLARITY Act President Trump, along with crypto executives and regulators, urged Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, a proposal aimed at clearly defining who regulates what in the digital asset world. This would be one of the most important legislative frameworks for the sector to date.
3. Short covering Part of the recent move is attributed to the closing of short positions, which amplifies the rise when many traders are forced to buy back.
Where are we headed?
Projections vary significantly:
Base case: $150K by mid-2027 and $300K by the end of 2029 Bullish scenario: Up to $500K in 2029 if institutional capital accelerates its entry Short-term outlook: Traders on Kalshi predict that BTC will close 2026 near $75,000
