#SwitzerlandApprovesFirstBitcoinETF The Swiss Bitcoin ETF Waived a Rule, Not a Risk A fire code usually wants more than one exit. Now imagine an inspector waiving that rule for one building because its single door is the widest and most used in town, then asking for a much better lock. That is roughly how I read FINMA's approval of Switzerland's first retail Bitcoin ETF. Swiss investors could already buy Bitcoin on SIX through ETPs. What's new is the wrapper. This is a public fund, classed as an "other fund for alternative investments," so Bitcoin now sits inside the ordinary fund framework. The interesting part is the exemption from diversification rules. Retail funds normally have to spread their holdings. FINMA's stated reasoning is that Bitcoin has a longer trading history and higher volume than other crypto assets. That is an argument about liquidity and track record, not price stability. A deep market can still fall hard, and FINMA itself warned that investors could lose a lot of capital. So the protection moves elsewhere. The fund must reduce operational and custody risk, disclose volatility clearly, and follow FinSA suitability and appropriateness checks at the point of sale. I think that is the real design choice. The regulator isn't calling one asset safe. It is controlling the parts a fund structure can actually control: the plumbing and the sales conversation. I could be wrong, but a gap remains. A custody requirement is only as strong as its details, and the issuer reportedly hasn't disclosed much yet. Other providers have applied too, so this reasoning may become a template. Will "long history and high volume" stay a narrow test, or slowly stretch to fit other assets? $GNS $ALT $GTC #ElicePlunges33%InKoreanIPODebut #ElicePlunges33%InKoreanIPODebut #BitMineAdds12535ETH
