For the past two decades, nearly the entire internet industry has been doing the same thing: making it easier for humans to use software.

Google solved information retrieval, Amazon solved online shopping, Uber solved transportation dispatch, and Salesforce solved customer relationship management. Various SaaS products cover finance, HR, marketing, and project management within companies.

These products share a common underlying assumption: humans are the primary operators of software. As a result, software companies need to continually optimize their user interfaces, lower the barriers to use, and improve the interaction experience, then generate revenue through subscriptions, advertising, or transaction fees.
