Coldcard investigates phishing link posted on its official X account

Coldcard, a manufacturer of Bitcoin hardware wallets, said it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the posting of a phishing link through its official X account.

IMF: Tokenized stocks open up new opportunities, but liquidity remains a challenge

A report by the International Monetary Fund highlighted the growing use of blockchain technology to digitally represent stocks and traditional financial assets, in a process known as asset tokenization.

The study found that more than half of the tokenized stock transactions included in the analysis took place outside traditional trading hours, while around 80% of transactions involved less than one full share.

The Fund also noted, however, that these markets remain less liquid and more volatile than the traditional stock markets they represent.

What do the findings mean?

They point to the real-world use of fractional ownership and continuous trading technologies, while also revealing regulatory and technical challenges related to settlement, liquidity, and ownership rights.

The report argues that the sector’s future success will require a clearer legal and operational framework, rather than relying on technology alone.

Ledger confirms discovery of an unauthorized material modification inside one of its hardware wallets

Ledger announced that it had discovered an unauthorized electronic component inside one of the affected wallet devices during its investigation into reports of lost digital assets linked to devices purchased from the distributor CryptoBilis in Southeast Asia.

According to the company, the incident appears to be limited to one distributor and a specific market, while the distributor has temporarily halted device sales until the investigation is complete.

Independent investigator Specter estimated the suspected losses at more than $86 million across the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and TRON networks, but Ledger did not confirm the loss amount or the final number of affected users.

Security significance: The case shows that protecting private keys does not rely on encryption alone, but also includes the integrity of devices and their supply chain.

The company advises affected buyers not to initialize new devices, and to use a secure device and a new recovery phrase when transferring assets if the device has already been initialized.
