The answer is: wallet addresses can be anonymized, but that does not mean identities cannot be traced.
Every on-chain transaction leaves a record. Investigators can combine fund aggregation, exchange KYC, Gas source tracing, login devices, cross-chain pathways, withdrawal channels, and abnormal transaction patterns to gradually build links between wallet addresses and real-world entities.
8 common tracking methods:
1️⃣ On-chain address analysis
2️⃣ Exchange data queries
3️⃣ Gas source tracing
4️⃣ Device fingerprint tracking
5️⃣ Cross-chain and mixer analysis
6️⃣ International cooperation to freeze assets
7️⃣ Tracing back withdrawal destinations
8️⃣ Anomaly-based transaction risk control
The defining feature of cryptocurrencies is not “no traces left”—it’s the opposite: they are public, transparent, and leave long-lasting trails!#冻结USDT
After a single USDT transfer is sent out, where does the money actually go?
Although blockchain addresses are anonymous, the movement of funds is not entirely untraceable. You can track transfers, monitor wallets, identify risky addresses, and trace scam money. The tools used are not exactly the same.
Currently, the most common blockchain address tracking tools mainly include the following 6👇
1️⃣ MetaSleuth A graphical display of fund flows. It supports cross-chain tracking, address labeling, and identification of exchange and hacker addresses.
2️⃣ Arkham Richer address entity labels. You can view organizations, exchanges, and large holder wallets. It supports fund flow analysis and address alerts.
3️⃣ MistTrack An AML and fund-tracking platform released by SlowMist. It provides risk scoring, address labels, and investigative analysis.
4️⃣ Breadcrumbs Visualizes transaction relationships. It’s suitable for tracking multi-hop fund paths and analyzing address connections.
5️⃣ OKLink Offers a multi-chain explorer, address labels, transaction tracking, and on-chain AML features.
6️⃣ Nansen Focuses on investment research, “smart money” analysis, and monitoring fund and project team wallets.
Quick summary:
🔸 Check a single transfer: OKLink / blockchain explorer
🔸 Trace the fund path: MetaSleuth / MistTrack
🔸 Monitor institutions and large holders: Arkham / Nansen
I just received a question from a fan. They said that over the past two days, their account at China Merchants Bank received several incoming amounts from selling coins, and then the money was quickly transferred out. After that, they received short SMS alerts from the bank indicating that non-counter (non-branch) transactions have been suspended. They then received more alerts in succession saying that the funds in the account have been restricted. They asked me how to resolve it?
1️⃣. The account is flagged by the bank’s risk-control system. Most likely, the same day it received multiple incoming transfers from strangers across provinces, along with fast in-and-out movements, which triggered the bank’s AML (anti–money laundering) and suspected fraud/gambling detection model.
2️⃣. If the bank only says that non-counter transactions are suspended, you can go to the branch in person to handle the transactions at the counter to transfer the funds out—it's just that online transactions cannot be processed.
3️⃣. If the bank says the funds have been restricted and you want to unfreeze/unlock them, request from the bank a document called a “Fraud-Suspected Risk Account Review Form.” Take it to the local anti-fraud center under the jurisdiction of the branch where the account was opened, submit proof of the source of the funds, and clearly and truthfully explain what happened. Uncle officer will also be able to check in their system backend whether you are involved in fraud/gambling. Once you are cleared, the anti-fraud staff will stamp and sign the “Fraud-Suspected Risk Account Review Form,” and then write that you agree to解除 the restriction on funds.
4️⃣. Then submit the “Fraud-Suspected Risk Account Review Form” to the bank staff and wait for the bank to re-verify the materials. After the bank completes the review, the bank account and funds will return to normal.
Exchanges give retail traders favorable terms; the biggest in terms of scope can only be Binance. Other exchanges are stingy, counting every penny and being overly careful—treating retail traders like monkeys!@CZ

Binance releases its latest compliance report. Data shows that in 2025, the platform handled 72,000 requests from global law enforcement agencies. In the first half of 2026, it was 36,000 requests!
Personally, I suspect that about a quarter of the law-enforcement requests come from law-enforcement agencies in mainland China. USDT is currently the payment method most favored by mainland China’s black-and-grey industries for activities such as money laundering and “running” funds, transferring assets, illegal foreign exchange, and embezzlement and bribery—all of which prioritize virtual currencies as a transit hub! $NVDAB

Currently, doing black and gray market operations in the country is pretty tough. Trying to go through bank channels is almost impossible. First off, it's hard to open an account. Even if you manage to get one, new cards have a daily transfer limit of just 5000 yuan. Later on, even if the bank increases your limit, as long as you're moving money in and out quickly, especially across regions, the bank's system will lock your card. To unfreeze your funds, you have to go to the anti-fraud center for a certificate proving you're not involved in any illegal activities.
When trying to unfreeze a bank account, if you can't provide proof of legitimate fund sources, the bank will 100% not unfreeze your money, and the anti-fraud center won't issue you a thawing certificate either.
So right now, the payment channels for black and gray market operations are pretty much relying on WeChat and Alipay. These funds are definitely going to exchanges to buy USDT and launder money, which will lead to many users who prefer withdrawing through Alipay and WeChat getting hit with legal freezes.
I've been a veteran trader for 7 years, and I can give you a bit of advice: if you're looking to withdraw, go with seasoned traders and opt for bank card payments. Right now, that's the safest channel! #出金
I've noticed that the monitoring and control systems of banks and fraud prevention centers are getting pretty intense!\n\nThe other day, I sent some funds to a client, and right after, my uncle called me up: he said I just transferred some money to someone, and their monitoring flagged it as a scam risk, so they want to come by and verify the transaction's legitimacy.\n\nI just ran into another situation where I was sending funds to a client, and the receiving bank showed it was a cross-province transfer, so they directly locked the recipient's card and needed to verify this transaction as well 🙄🙄🙄\n\n\n

The only retail traders who can consistently make money in the crypto space are those who take a long-term strategy. So far, I've only seen four types of retail players actually getting results!
1. Value investing mindset, only buying mainstream coins for spot trading, swapping time for space, but it really tests whether you have spare cash to invest and your patience.
2. Grabbing airdrops, which tests your research skills in the Web3 primary market.
3. Becoming a Web3 media KOL, consistently pumping out valuable content; this really tests your writing skills.
4. OTC traders, who can keep it going long-term; the barrier is starting capital and social networks, plus you need strong risk management skills.
In summary, making stable profits in crypto requires a certain threshold, while losing money has no barriers 😂😂😂

Duan Yongping, known as the 'Warren Buffett of China', has recently disclosed a position of $19 million in USDC issuer (NASDAQ: CRCL).
It seems Duan Yongping is quite bullish on the $USDC stablecoin market. Does this also indicate optimism for the future of Web3?
According to the latest data from Circle, there are currently 76.28 billion $USDC in circulation across the network.
Circle is also developing the Arc infrastructure, which is a Layer-1 blockchain aimed at stablecoin finance, providing the performance, reliability, and liquidity needed to meet global financial demands. A lot of folks think Sun Yuchen lost money buying HB, but really, his intentions are deeper than just trading!
After Li Lin sold off the old HB, the assets of Chinese users are in his custody. If regular users don't withdraw their assets in time, they’ll be hit with asset management fees. However, if the assets are judicially frozen, no management fees are applied.
Sun Yuchen is handling the custody of non-Chinese users' assets, including those that are frozen by judicial authorities. This includes a lot of assets from overseas Chinese involved in MLMs, Ponzi schemes, money laundering, and other illegal activities. The HB accounts have been frozen by Chinese law enforcement, with the assets estimated to be over $500 million.
Chinese law enforcement has the authority to freeze assets of foreign users but lacks the power to seize them directly. The HB exchange won’t cooperate with Chinese law enforcement in seizing foreign users' assets unless they go through international judicial processes and coordinate with the judicial authorities of the users’ countries. They would then send a formal request to HB to follow the legal procedures. However, whether foreign judicial authorities will cooperate in virtual currency cases is a huge question mark. So far, Chinese law enforcement hasn't initiated any cross-border asset seizures in virtual currency cases.
The bottom line is that a huge amount of internationally frozen assets is in Sun Yuchen's hands. Mainland law enforcement wants to seize them, but HB won't cooperate, citing the need for international judicial processes. Users with frozen HB assets can’t withdraw their funds either, as HB states that they are frozen by judicial authorities. Over time, users with frozen HB accounts won't be able to log in, and ultimately, those funds will remain under Sun Yuchen's control!
