What does it mean when a Solana treasury company sells all its SOL and offers to buy back up to 95% of its covered shares and warrants? That’s the situation with SkyAI (NASDAQ: SKYA). According to the company's announcements and the reporting in my research, SkyAI has sold its entire SOL treasury and launched a $3.00-per-share cash tender offer, potentially worth around $201.3 million. The company reported approximately $223.8 million in cash as of October 16. If the offer is fully subscribed at the estimated maximum cost, roughly $22.5 million would remain before costs and other cash movements. But there’s more to this story. Bastion Trading, a shareholder with nearly 10% ownership, has challenged the offer. It wants a higher price of at least $3.50, an independent review of the SOL sales, and greater transparency. Here’s what I find most important: the economics of SkyAI's SOL sales remain unclear in the information reviewed. Without the actual sale prices and proceeds, we cannot reliably determine whether the company made a profit or a loss on those transactions. SkyAI has also discussed plans for a financial platform combining Solana stablecoin infrastructure with AI, but the details remain limited. My interpretation: selling SOL removes the company's direct treasury exposure to SOL's price movements, but it also changes the investment story. The bigger question now is whether SkyAI can turn its remaining capital into a sustainable business. The tender offer itself doesn't guarantee that the stock is undervalued or that the future strategy will succeed.
