"Monday will be the worst day of 2026," writes @CryptoNobler, a crypto account with a ton of trash content (important to know that). 98 percent would lose everything. His evidence: Japan is dumping 5.2 trillion dollars in US Treasury bonds onto the market.
Japan owns a total of about 1.1 trillion in all. You can't sell what you don't have.
The rest of CT is chiming in. @cryptorover calls the week "brutal" and writes that the crash has only just begun. @great_martis, a market technician with a penchant for historical comparisons, overlays the 1987 chart on today's because Monday is the 39th anniversary of Black Monday. One date is signal enough for him.
In contrast, @RealJGBanks, a trader who follows the VIX, holds firm: Wall Street's fear gauge is below 20. Anyone expecting real panic won't find it there yet.
I've gone through the week day by day.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 19 → China reports third-quarter growth. The second quarter was 4.3 percent; 4.4 is expected. The first real figure after the summer's tariff rounds. → Plus inflation in Canada and the mood of US homebuilders. → The Fed stays silent. No Fed member says a public word until October 29.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20 → The SEC's comment period ends for its rulebook on the issuance and sale of crypto assets. That's the framework for the next few years—no ETF decision. → US housing starts and the weekly ADP jobs number. Netflix releases figures. → Overnight, LayerZero unlocks 23.6 million $ZRO, about 44 million dollars. 13 million of that goes to strategic partners who got in at the earliest prices.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21 → Inflation in the UK. → The US Treasury wants to offload 13 billion dollars in 20-year bonds. The last auction went at 5.16 percent. If buyers are missing here, you see it right away in the yield. → At 14:50 UTC, #Solana switches its consensus system with Alpenglow. The biggest upgrade since launch. → Tesla and Meta after market close.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22 → Initial jobless claims and the Conference Board's early indicator.
President Trump says, "France is burning! The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country." 🇫🇷
France issued 384,000 residence permits last year alone, on top of decades of large-scale immigration that successive French governments have acknowledged straining public services, housing, and schools — the very things the protesters are now furious about. Overcrowded classrooms with 35 students and not enough chairs do not happen in a vacuum; they happen when population growth outpaces infrastructure investment, and immigration is one of the largest drivers of that growth in French urban areas.
Something terrible just happened behind the scenes.
And you MUST know about it before October 19.
When markets open next week, this won't be just a normal correction.
Stocks will dump. Metals will dump. Bitcoin and crypto will dump even harder.
The warning signs are impossible to ignore.
→ Japan is dumping $5.2 TRILLION in U.S. Treasuries → China is dumping $550 BILLION in U.S. Treasuries → The Strait of Hormuz is still CLOSED → U.S. Treasury yields are SURGING → Inflation is OUT OF CONTROL → The Fed is injecting BILLIONS of cash into economy
These are NOT isolated issues.
They are interconnected forces driving pressure through the entire financial system.
Japan is selling.
China is selling.
And the debt they unload must find new buyers.
To attract those buyers, the market must offer higher yields.
That is why Treasury yields are climbing.
Investors are demanding greater compensation for the risks of holding long-term U.S. government debt.
And this is where the dangerous cycle begins:
→ Foreign demand for U.S. Treasuries weakens
→ The market struggles to absorb the growing supply of government debt
→ Treasury yields rise to attract new buyers
→ Higher yields increase U.S. government borrowing costs
→ Rising borrowing costs put pressure on stocks, real estate, crypto, and virtually every other asset
→ Energy disruptions push oil prices higher and accelerate inflation
→ Persistent inflation keeps pressure on Treasury yields
But there is another factor that makes this situation even more complicated.
Fed liquidity injections.
Liquidity injections support financial markets by easing funding pressures.
But they do NOT eliminate inflation.
When additional liquidity
This is the contradiction people can't afford to ignore.
The Fed is trying to maintain financial stability while inflation continues to threaten purchasing power.
And the consequences extend far beyond Wall Street.
