Big move by Binance’s SAFU Fund: 7,499 BTC (about $581 million) transferred to an unknown wallet tonight at around 22:54 🚨

What we know so far👇
• Whale Alert tracked 7,499 BTC transferred out of a Binance SAFU address; the destination address is unlabeled
• Binance said the same day that it expects to use part of SAFU within 24 hours, with withdrawals potentially resuming on November 1 (reported by CryptoBriefing)
• The company has set aside $6.34 billion, covering about 90% of the losses, with SAFU covering the remainder
• It has not yet been officially confirmed whether this transfer is the SAFU funds being used; awaiting confirmation

My take: $6.3 billion was stolen, while SAFU has only about $1.2 billion. The real backstop is the company’s balance sheet. Every on-chain transaction is visible—that’s one of the benefits of self-custody.

I just came across @RGBHorse’s update from last night: there were 300 Genesis Partner spots, and now only 126 are left. I’ve been keeping an eye on DarkHorse this week, so today I’m going to lay out a few new developments and my own take in one place.

First, in plain English: what is DarkHorse?
RGB is an asset protocol that runs on Bitcoin. You can think of it as “letting Bitcoin issue tokens and NFTs, with greater privacy and a lighter footprint.” DarkHorse is a Launchpad + Swap in the RGB ecosystem, a bit like a Bitcoin-native version of Pump: issue and trade assets on Bitcoin, all in one place.

What’s new these past few days
· Pinned announcement: It aims to be the first token launchpad on Bitcoin to support stock pairings. Memecoins can be paired with stocks like TSLA, AAPL, and NVDA. It’s based on RGB and launching soon.
· DarkHorse Wallet is getting warmed up, bringing BTC, RGB tokens, and UDA/NFTs together in one wallet.
· More than 8,664 Bitcoin OGs are already mining, closing in on 10,000. The long-term goal is to bring 100,000 people into RGB.

My take
RGB is still very early, and Tether has also said it plans to deploy USDT on RGB. If stablecoins, stock-related RWAs, and a Meme launchpad really come together, DarkHorse will be positioned at the gateway for user traffic. For gateway projects, the difference between getting in early and getting in late is often huge.

First, the sector (facts): Tether has publicly announced plans to issue USDT natively on Bitcoin via RGB v0.11.1. This marks the stablecoin giant’s return to Bitcoin’s asset layer. The RGB ecosystem has also recently made public progress on sidechain integration and Lightning Network support. As the number of assets grows, infrastructure for issuing and trading them becomes essential.

Next, its positioning (facts + speculation): DarkHorse brings a launchpad, wallet, and swap feature together in one entry point, making it an early mover in the ecosystem’s application layer. According to the project, more than 50,000 people participated in its 18-day Genesis event. It has also continued Sybil screening and burned around 4 million horseshoe points in total. Compatibility feedback the team submitted to Tether’s Wallet Development Kit has been adopted by Tether. These are facts. The speculation is that if RGB assets really scale up, this kind of all-in-one entry point could benefit from the ecosystem’s growth.

Third, its retention design (speculation): Horseshoe points are tied to a maximum allocation of 6% of the future platform token supply, aligning early contributors and the project. This is a typical points-for-tokens model that aims to lock in the community’s attention. The design is in place, but whether it delivers depends on execution.

Finally, the risks (facts): The token has not yet been issued, and there is no contract address. All rules are subject to the final official announcement. How contributions will be verified and the details of the allocation are not yet fully transparent, and some community members have publicly raised questions. The project is at a very early stage, with significant uncertainty around both competition and execution.

Explainer: What Is DarkHorse in the Bitcoin RGB Ecosystem?

Let’s talk about a relatively new direction in the Bitcoin ecosystem: the RGB protocol.

Most people’s understanding of Bitcoin assets is still focused on Ordinals inscriptions and Runes. The RGB protocol takes a different approach: assets and state are kept off-chain, with Bitcoin used as the settlement layer. In theory, this offers both privacy and scalability. The space is still at a very early stage, and there are only a handful of infrastructure projects.

DarkHorse is a suite of infrastructure built around the RGB protocol. It positions itself as an asset launchpad for the RGB ecosystem and also offers its own wallet and swap, bringing asset issuance, management, and trading together in one workflow.

According to publicly available data, more than 50,000 people participated in its early Genesis campaign over 18 days (data provided by the project team). Participants mainly earn “Horseshoe” points by completing tasks or using historical assets in their wallets (BTC, Ordinals inscriptions, Runes, and BRC-20). The project team says that up to 6% of the token supply will be allocated to point holders when the token is issued in the future.

A few facts need to be made clear: the platform’s token has not been issued yet, and the official team has not announced a token name or contract address. In other words, any contract currently using the DarkHorse name is unrelated to the project. Beware of impersonators.

Whether this project is worth following over the long term is a matter of opinion. The RGB sector itself is still at an early stage, and time and ecosystem adoption will determine whether its infrastructure can gain traction. Is the RGB ecosystem making a comeback?!

Speaking of RGB, I remember there was that Clown mining project before. It made quite a splash at the time, but in the end it turned out to be a mess. Looking back now, it’s hard to know what to say.

But lately, things have started happening in the RGB ecosystem again. Today I came across a new project, @RGBHorse DarkHorse, which claims to be a launchpad + swap for the Bitcoin RGB ecosystem. In simple terms, it aims to be the Pump.fun of the RGB ecosystem, letting people issue and trade assets.

The project has already launched its Genesis campaign. You can complete tasks to earn Horseshoes points, and completing them can also get you Knight status and eligibility for future airdrops. The official page is also accepting applications for Genesis Partners. It currently shows 300 spots remaining, and Partners can earn more points and receive greater airdrop weighting.

It’s too early to say whether this will take off. The RGB ecosystem has had its share of hype before, after all, and we’ll have to see how much actually comes of this project.

I’m going to try it out first and apply to become a Genesis Partner while I’m at it, just to see what it’s really like.
