A survey by the DeFi Education Fund and Ipsos found that 35% of U.S. respondents believe political candidates should support the development of a new generation of financial technology in the United States. However, when blockchain, cryptocurrency, and decentralized finance (DeFi) were explicitly mentioned, support fell to 13%. The survey found that 74% of respondents believe the financial system needs to change so individuals can have greater control over their money and assets. Only 5% of respondents expressed high or complete trust in decentralized platforms.

Bloom blamed the attack on a remote code execution vulnerability in a third-party module and denied that any private keys had been accessed or exposed.
In comments submitted on October 20, Pretty Good Policy for Zcash (PGPZ) asked the SEC to allow token issuers to verify fundraising-related statements without disclosing unrelated wallet activity. PGPZ wants issuers to disclose material holdings, preferential terms, and conflicts of interest, and to use evidence appropriate to each statement. PGPZ said that transaction validity proofs cannot show how issuers use investors’ funds, so accounting records or other financial evidence may still be needed. The proposed Crypto Asset Regulations would exempt startup offerings of no more than $5 million over four years, and fundraising of no more than $75 million within 12 months. As of October 26, the framework remained at the proposal stage, and the safeguards requested by PGPZ had not become adopted compliance options.

JPMorgan says lenders now require AI companies to prove their financial viability rather than trusting them based solely on their AI label. The bank says financial stress is concentrated among companies that rely on continued borrowing, but a further downturn in the AI sector could affect risk assets such as bitcoin. Morgan Stanley says weekly trading volume in credit default swaps (CDS) tied to major AI-related borrowers averaged more than $9 billion in September, compared with a weekly average of less than $2 billion in July. JPMorgan strategist Justin Beiman says credit protection on large AI leaders with strong cash flows still looks more like portfolio insurance than a prediction of financial distress.
South Korea’s ruling Democratic Party of Korea said it would gather further opinions within the party, discuss delaying taxation on virtual assets, and finalize its position as soon as possible. Party spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo said the party had not settled on an official position that day. Unless it is delayed again, taxation on virtual assets will begin in January next year. The combined rate of income tax and local income tax on annual income from transferring or renting out virtual assets is 22%, after deducting the basic tax-free allowance of 2.5 million won.

After receiving a large number of AI-assisted submissions, Solana’s Firedancer team now requires researchers to permanently burn 1 SOL—worth about $100—for every vulnerability report they submit. The burned SOL is non-refundable, and submissions without a burned SOL are ineligible for rewards. An audit contest with a $1 million prize pool, held from April 9 to May 9, received 809 reports from 162 researchers and uncovered 127 unique security issues. Jump Crypto said that nearly every submission used AI agents to find vulnerabilities or write reports.
DeGods founder and trader Frank says the strong revenue growth shown in Anthropic’s latest S-1 prospectus doesn’t mean the risks of investing in AI have disappeared. Frank warned that increasingly similar AI models could intensify competition and squeeze industry margins. He said capital spending commitments extending through 2034 may already be reflected in stock valuations. Frank remains bullish on AI over the long term and may invest heavily in Anthropic’s IPO, but believes it’s still unclear which companies will ultimately come out on top.
After a surge in AI-assisted submissions, Solana’s Firedancer software team now requires researchers to burn 1 SOL, worth about $100, for each vulnerability report. Terms announced Monday state that the fee is nonrefundable and reports submitted without burning SOL are ineligible for rewards. Jump Crypto will also temporarily increase rewards, offering up to $300,000 for critical vulnerabilities in Solana’s Alpenglow voting system. An earlier audit contest with a $1 million prize pool received 809 reports but identified only 127 unique security issues, excluding observations that could not be exploited.
Crypto trader Ansem warned that after Bitcoin and Ethereum fell below their medium-term trends, their declines could accelerate if they break below $82,000 and $2,400, respectively. Ansem said on-chain market sentiment is at its worst level in nearly nine years. His bearish view is based mainly on technical signals in the stock market, including weakening momentum among AI stocks and a failed breakout by Invesco QQQ. However, Ansem remains optimistic about Bitcoin’s long-term outlook, expecting prices to fall before rising again. He expects significant volatility in both directions in the fourth quarter, while some on-chain projects may still perform well.
