📊 $BTC 81,580 (-1.6%): $527M of ETF money came in and price still slipped
Market Brief: October 20th, 2026 (Tuesday)
$ETH 2,391 (-1.9%). Total cap $2.74T, BTC dominance 59.6%.
🔸 US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $527M on Monday, the most since September 22, per Farside data via Cointelegraph. BTC closed Monday lower anyway.
🔸 Only 9 of 40 liquid pairs are green, against 52 of 58 on Friday, and Korea's KOSPI was down more than 4% in Asian trading on AI-investment worries.
🔸 BTC funding is 0.0056% per 8h and open interest is little changed at $7.8B, so leverage is not driving this.
What I'm doing: not reading a trend into one day of inflows. I want a second one.
Follow for tomorrow's brief, and tell me: do ETF flows still move your read of BTC? 👇 Data: Binance spot/futures, CoinGecko, Binance Square, Binance News, 08:38 UTC. Not financial advice.
$PHA is +24% in 24h, after a run from 0.0499 to 0.0697. 🚀
Open interest in contracts is up 56% since the move began, while funding is negative, so shorts are paying to fade it. I can't find a catalyst, so I'd rather watch what happens after the spike than chase the next green hour.
I posted it at 07:28 UTC on October 15. At 13:31 UTC $BTC dipped under it, low 79,800, and traded below 80.1K for only eight minutes. Then it closed the day at 82,246, and no daily low since is under 80,684.
So was I wrong? A wick isn't a close, and a level defined by wicks can't really be wrong, which is exactly what bothers me.
Do you call a break on the wick or wait for the close?
📊 $BTC 82,269 (+1.1%): back above 82K after a dip under 80K, and nearly everything followed
Market Brief: October 16th, 2026 (Friday)
$ETH 2,458 (+3.6%). Total cap $2.79T, BTC dominance 59.2%.
🔸 BTC wicked to 79,800 at 13:00 UTC yesterday, bounced 3.5%, and has held above 81.6K for 18 hours.
🔸 52 of 58 liquid pairs are green, and ETH is rising three times as fast as BTC.
🔸 Fear & Greed is 51, the same as yesterday, and BTC funding is only 0.0063% per 8h. Sentiment and leverage have not moved with price.
What I'm doing: watching whether 80K holds on today's close, and not chasing a one-day bounce.

Vouchers are paid by November 5th and their value moves with the $FF price.
I had a post ready yesterday saying 81K was the floor. I didn't publish it. 🧱
At 02:00 UTC $BTC printed 80,226 on $268M of volume in one hour, then closed that hour at 81,538.
A floor is a hypothesis, not a fact. Mine was off by 1%, and the draft was nine hours old when it broke. My level now is 80.1K to 80.4K, and I wouldn't be surprised to rewrite that one too.
Which level are you watching now, and what would make you drop it?
$WAL up 56% in 24h, from 0.0376 to 0.0623 and back to 0.0597, on $30M of volume. 🔥
It came in four legs: 00:00, 05:00, 09:00 and 16:00 UTC. Funding is -0.37% per 4h, about -820% a year, so shorts pay up, and open interest in contracts is up 240% in 25 hours. I found no catalyst, and I'd rather watch what happens after the spike than chase a fifth green hour.
📊 $BTC 81,840 (-1.9%): CPI took the 83K shelf away, and the whole market felt it
Market Brief: October 14th, 2026 (Wednesday)
$ETH 2,438 (-3.1%). Total cap $2.77T, BTC dominance 59.3%.
🔸 CPI hit 3.7% against 3.6% expected. BTC slid from 83.5K to 81.7K in four hours, and only 4 of 51 liquid pairs are green.
🔸 BTC funding is slightly negative, so shorts pay longs. Leverage is not what is driving this drop.
🔸 Fear & Greed is 51, down from 61 a week ago.
What I'm doing: watching the 81.0K low of October 13 into tonight's close and not adding risk.
Follow for the daily brief after the numbers land, and tell me: did the 3.7% change your plan? 👇 Data: Binance spot/futures, CoinGecko, Binance Square, 16:37 UTC. Not financial advice.
📊 $BTC 83,928 (-0.1%): Bitcoin is holding while the rest of the market bleeds
Market Brief: October 13th, 2026 (Tuesday)
$ETH 2,533 (-1.2%). Total cap $2.84T, BTC dominance 59.2%.
🔸 55 of 69 liquid pairs are down, yet BTC is flat. This is an altcoin story, not a Bitcoin one.
🔸 ETH accounts are 2.73 long per short while ETH funding is a flat 0.008% per 8h. Crowded in headcount, not in cost.
🔸 Fear & Greed is 56, down from 67 a week ago. A calm price with a jumpy mood.
What I'm doing: watching the 81K low into tomorrow's CPI and not chasing altcoin dips.
Follow for a calm brief the day before CPI, and tell me: hedging into the print or sitting through it? 👇 Data: Binance spot/futures, CoinGecko, Binance Square, 07:46 UTC. Not financial advice.
🎯 $BTC options are calm, but "five-year low" is not what the data says.
🔸 Deribit's DVOL, the index of how much volatility BTC options are pricing for the next 30 days, is 37.2 today.
🔸 That is in the lowest 8% of the last five years, but not the low. It was 33.6 on September 17th, 2026 and 32.4 in August 2023.
🔸 BTC actually moved at a 30% annualized pace over the last 7 days and 39% over 30 days, so options are paying a small premium over this week.
Low implied volatility means options are cheap, not that a big move is coming. It only tells you the market is not paying much for protection right before tomorrow's CPI.
What I'm doing: watching whether DVOL jumps after the CPI print instead of guessing the direction.
Do you check implied volatility before a big data day? 👇 Data: Deribit public API, Binance spot, as of 06:39 UTC. Not financial advice. #bitcoinoptionsvolatilityhitsfiveyearlow
$GTC is +54% in 24h: 0.161 to a 0.393 spike and back to 0.248, on $29.5M of volume. 🔥
The spike was a single hour yesterday at 10:00 UTC, then it faded in steps. Funding is -0.056% per hour, so shorts pay longs, and accounts are 0.75 long per short. I'd rather watch whether 0.231 holds than chase the first green candle.
📊 $BTC 84,009 (+1.1%): a green Monday open, with CPI two days away
Market Brief: October 12th, 2026 (Monday)
$ETH 2,565 (+2.4%). Total cap $2.83T, BTC dominance 59.5%.
🔸 Breadth is lopsided: 43 of 53 liquid pairs are up, but Fear & Greed is 58, down from 67 a week ago. Price recovered faster than sentiment.
🔸 BTC's 24h range is 82,975 to 84,290, so the dip stopped right at 83K.
🔸 Leverage is calm. BTC funding is flat at -0.0001% per 8h, and ETH funding is -0.0032%, so shorts pay longs.
What I'm doing: watching whether 83K holds into Wednesday's CPI, and ignoring the small-cap pumps for now.
Follow for the Monday brief before the week gets loud, and tell me: positioning before CPI or waiting? 👇 Data: Binance spot/futures, CoinGecko, Binance Square, 06:00 UTC. Not financial advice.
$W up 60% in 24h, from 0.0172 to 0.0302 and back to 0.0281, on $37M of volume. 🔥
It came in two legs, 17:00 UTC yesterday and 02:00 UTC today. Funding is slightly negative and accounts are 0.80 long per short, so the crowd is leaning against it. I found no catalyst, and I'd rather watch whether 0.0273 holds than chase a third leg.
📊 $BTC 83,839 (+0.9%): a Sunday tape only 1.5% wide
Market Brief: October 11th, 2026 (Sunday)
$ETH 2,545 (+1.5%). Total cap $2.82T, BTC dominance 59.6%.
🔸 BTC's 24h range runs from 82,805 to 84,040. Price moves, but not far.
🔸 Breadth is better than the headline: 39 of 43 liquid pairs are green, while Fear & Greed is 58, down from 70 a week ago.
🔸 Leverage is cool. BTC funding is 0.0014% per 8h, and ETH accounts are 2.93 long per short, the crowded side.
What I'm doing: watching whether 82.8K holds as the day's low, and treating small-cap pumps as their own story, not a BTC signal.
Follow for a calm brief to start the week, and tell me: do you trade quiet Sundays or wait for Monday? 👇 Data: Binance spot/futures, CoinGecko, Binance Square, 17:11 UTC. Not financial advice.
$GTC up 76% in 24h, from 0.1146 to 0.2449 and back to 0.204, on $28M of volume. 🔥
The top came about six hours ago. Funding is -0.24% per 8 hours, so shorts pay longs, and accounts are 0.94 long per short. Late buyers are arriving on a candle like this. I'm staying out, and I'll watch whether the shorts keep paying as the move cools.
📊 $BTC 86,411 (+1.7%): the high stopped at 86,999, a hair under 87K
Market Brief: October 5th, 2026 (Monday)
$ETH 2,726 (+1.2%). Total cap $2.93T (-1.5%), BTC dominance 59.2%.
🔸 BTC's 24h range ran from 84,925 to 86,999. Still a range, and no daily close above 87K since September 23.
🔸 Breadth is positive: 32 of 42 liquid alts are green, and Fear & Greed is at 68, down from 70.
🔸 Top traders are 1.84 long per short on BTC futures, accounts only 1.01, so the pros lean more long than the crowd.
What I'm doing: watching whether the 84.9K low holds, and not counting an 87K wick as a breakout.
Follow for tomorrow's brief, and tell me in the replies if you read this breadth as real. Data: Binance spot/futures, CoinGecko, Binance Square, 07:18 UTC. Not financial advice.
$BEAMX +27.5%, from 0.002097 to 0.00305 on $16M of spot volume, now 12% off the high. 📈
Funding is +0.005% per 4 hours, accounts are 1.24 long per short, and sellers lead slightly on taker flow. Binance News reported a 35% spike, but I can't find a catalyst. I'd rather watch what it does after the spike than chase it.
